What is cloud computing?

Internet-dependent computing is cloud computing. Cloud computing is a computing technology that enables the control and maintenance of data and applications through the use of the Internet and a centralized remote server. It will be possible to conduct all kinds of activities on the web. In this case each user can be considered as a client. Let's say a company needs six servers.

They will cost a lot to purchase, setup and maintain. Even if they are not always used, the cost cannot be reduced. But if the company takes advantage of cloud computing (rents ml.medium machines in Amazon.com's cloud) then billing by the hour will be much less. You will be billed as long as you use it. No need for extra power consumption or machine room cooling to run powerful machines.

All you have to do is keep some low-configuration machines, and have high-speed internet. These low-power office computers can access cloud virtual machines. Since the machines are on Amazon's servers, they have no maintenance hassles or costs.

Cloud computing model :

Based on what services the cloud provides, the cloud can be divided into three categories. Namely—

1. Infrastructure as a Service or infrastructure services.

2. Platform as a Service

 3. Software as a Service or software service.

Infrastructure Services (IAAS)

Infrastructure rental service. For example, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) is an example. EC2 runs 1 to 8 virtual machines per server in the data center, which are rented by clients. Operating system can be installed on the virtual machine. The advantage is that everything can be controlled by the user himself. And the difficulty is that the user has to arrange everything himself.

Platform Based Services (PAAS)

Instead of directly renting a virtual machine, the platform is rented, on which users can build applications. For example, Google's AppEngine is an example. If you use this service, Google will allow you to use their API, you can use it to create applications. This application will run on Google's cloud.

Software as a Service (SAAS)

Software as a Service is a cloud-based service where users can use ready-made software running on the cloud. For example, Google Docs. Almost all Microsoft Office functions (documents, spreadsheets, presentations) can be done with Google Docs.

what describes the relationship between edge computing and cloud computing

1. Resource Scalability: The more the customer wants, the more the service provider can provide.

2. On-Demand Services: Customers can provide services when they want them. The buyer can increase or decrease his demand whenever he wants.

3. Pay-As-You-Go: Customer does not need to reserve any service in advance. Buyers pay only for what they use.

3 popular applications and services of cloud computing:

DropBox

A very useful service. Also called virtual hard disk. It means you can keep any type of file and control it from any PC very easily. You can share with others.

Skype

Skype turns computers into phones. Facilitates talking, video chatting etc through computer from anywhere in the world

Google Apps

Google Apps provides many facilities such as creating documents, creating spreadsheets, creating slide shows, calendar maintenance, creating personal emails, etc.

how does a cloud-first strategy differ from other approaches to cloud?

History of Cloud Computing:

In 1960, John McCarthy opined about cloud computing, "Computation will one day be organized as a public utility." But in fact this concept gained its foundation around 1990. In the late 1990s, large companies invested heavily in data centers and networks in hopes of doing business on the Internet. By the year 2000, the entire business suddenly collapsed, leaving many bankrupt. Only 5% of their data center was being used and the rest of the time the system was sitting idle. The era of cloud computing began with the idea of using idle computers for rent by the hour over the Internet. In 2005, Amazon.com launched Elastic Compute Cloud or EC2. After that there was no looking back for cloud computing. A lot of companies starting from IBM, Microsoft, Google are now involved in cloud computing business.
